Prayers by occasion

This is the full index of Bahá’í prayers on this site: the obligatory prayers, and prayers for healing, protection, unity, the departed, families, gatherings, and the hours of the day. Every page holds a set of prayers you can read straight through.

Before the obligatory prayers

Ablutions are the washing of the hands and face performed before each of the daily obligatory prayers. They are a symbolic act of purification, and they are repeated even if one has just washed.

If water is not available, the verse "In the Name of God, the Most Pure, the Most Pure" may be said five times in place of the ablutions.
